    Weep you no more, sad fountains; What need you flow so fast? Look how the snowy mountains Heaven's sun doth gently waste. But my sun's heavenly eyes View not your weeping, That now lies sleeping Softly, now softly lies Sleeping. Sleep is a reconciling, A rest that peace begets: Doth not the sun rise smiling When fair at even he sets? Rest you then, rest, sad eyes, Melt not in weeping, While she lies sleeping Softly, now softly lies Sleeping.

    How sad it is that there are insults on this video. The criticism is well placed, but the blatant insults are quite rude. By now, humanity should have learned to be constructively critical and not rude. You've a wonderful voice and I hope dearly that those comments have not hindered your growth in this or any talent. I'm sure that by the almost 3 months to 8 years that have passed most of the things said to have been lacking are now profound with improvement.

  • @KellyLynnSmith

    Lovely job. This is a very difficult piece to perform. I much prefer this natural style over the operatic version. It's also a pleasure to hear a singer capable of projection instead of being "miked up". I do hope that you have kept on with your singing!

  • @okaykatee
    @okaykatee 5 лет назад

    Constructive criticism: her voice is breathy and when she goes for the high notes she can't build them properly, which indicated she isn't using any technique. This is only okay if she just started singing and training. But if she has been singing these types of songs for a while, she's forcing her vocal chords too much (she's singing with larynx). So when she does the high notes she's doing damage to her vocal chords. And over time if you keep doing that it can result in serious irreversable damage. You shouldn't sing a song like that with a breathy voice. And people who sing this don't sing it with an "opera" voice for nothing. They do it because it is the right way to sing without forcing your vocal chords and doing damage. I hope at least someone reads this and learns something out of it 😂

      Don't scare of people who just sing for fun.. my god. Let people have their breathy fun voices. Geez. Always those semi-professional singers trying to ruin the fun.

      Why is it that constructive criticisms are so unwelcomed these days? For myself, I've never taken any singing lessons and that's why I'm here learning from others, including constructive criticisms in the comments. If the singer in a video is indeed doing something that could potentially damage her vocal cord, wouldn't it be good to know and learn how to avoid singing the wrong way? It doesn't look like this lady is singing 'just for fun' either. It could be a recital.

    • @okaykatee
      @okaykatee 4 года назад

      Ereshkiga1 well, your comment is ignorant. I’m not scaring people, I’m trying to help. I think that people should be aware of these things. My comment would only apply to those people who are considering studying singing and wanting to do it the right way, being professional or not. If you just sing for fun and you’re singing the wrong way, constantly doing damage, wouldn’t you wanna be at least aware of something that is harming your body? I’ve seen so many comments of people saying they lose their voice after singing and stuff, so why not prevent that and create awareness?

    • @okaykatee
      @okaykatee 4 года назад

      Joyce Chu idk it’s just that people take everything as hate nowadays or something. The girl in the video has probably just started out studying singing and will get better with time and practice. I just commented so other people who might want to learn classical pieces know that breathy voice isn’t good, to just create awareness and help them

    You’re letting too much air escape and you’re not using your diaphragm at all. Use your abdominals from the very bottom and bolster the breath support.

    I'm sure I'm going to be attacked, but this is not a strong voice. She is quite pretty, but there is no strength necessary to power and sustain the notes, and she especially struggles on the upper side of her register. Are all these positive comments from friends and family? It's great to be supportive of those we care about, and sure she can sing as long as it gives her pleasure, but a great talent she is not. All one has to do is listen to the original to see that.

    • @rachaelbrutonhaisell455
      @rachaelbrutonhaisell455 6 лет назад

      It would be nice if your criticism was simply constructive . You make some good points but You could have left the negativity out of it and simply said how she could improve instead of cutting her young beautiful voice up.

    • @okaykatee
      @okaykatee 5 лет назад

      It's not that her voice isn't "strong", she's just not using any technique. Not using a technique whilst singing these kind of songs is only okay if she's new and just started. Because if she sings these types of hard pieces she'll end up forcing too much her vocal chords and actually do damage. But yeah it's actually a myth when people say that someone has a "strong voice". It's not that they're born with it, they just use proper technique, and anyone can use it after a bit of training :)

    Beautiful voice. I think Lyra could have enunciated her words better, maybe she has an accent, but the tone and diction could be more consistent. She also could have held her notes longer, it's like she kept them short or cut off on purpose? Otherwise, lovely voice.

    Miss Olson, you sang that beautifully! You sang it in the style it was meant to be interpreted---soft and gentle with warm relaxing, tones! I did not like the soundtrack from Sense and sensibility with an abrasive operatic voice! Such a song as this requires so much peace and sweetness. You definitely delivered those qualities I expected from such a poem! Thank you!!
